Editor of NASA’s annual Spinoff publication

Since its inception in 1958, NASA has had a long history of finding applications for its space and aeronautics technologies that provide broad public benefit.

As editor of NASA¹s annual Spinoff publication, Daniel
Lockney is the Agency¹s leading authority on these NASA-derived technologies and their practical, terrestrial applications. Mr. Lockney has written over one hundred published articles on the ways in which the transfer of NASA¹s mission-driven technologies have benefitted humanity. His knowledge on this subject has also been shared with the public through numerous national and international print, radio, and television features, and he is regularly asked to speak on the subject of NASA spinoff technologies.

Mr. Lockney is adept at both dispelling the typical myths surrounding the benefits of NASA¹s research as well as highlighting anecdotally the more than 1,600 documented NASA spinoffs, which range broadly in the categories of medicine, transportation, safety, environmental resource management, computer technology, and manufacturing.
