# Project: 34

Presentation
The DTYS project aims at providing care and rehabilitation for offenders, and intends to achieve this objective using the theme of Football For Sustainable Social Development (FFSSD), which encourages children and young adults to identify their role in society and work towards their own future development. The organization of sporting events such as football, volleyball, tennis and other indoor games serves as platform for ascertaining the various participants' needs and finding an appropriate solution.

Objectives
ACRO Ghana is committed to working towards social cohesion and harmony among people of diverse backgrounds, tapping into the potential of young people to obtain increased productivity and improved social relations. Its objectives for 2010 and 2011 are:
1) supporting education using sporting events to attract pupils
2) reducing juvenile crime by integrating former offenders into society using sport
3) reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS by means of sporting events as the focal points for awareness campaigns
4) providing 500 bicycles to the children of cocoa farmers, enabling them to attend schools which are some distance away.

Achievements
It is expected that around 1,200 junior secondary school pupils in 12 different communities will improve their examinations pass rates over the year, and moreover that at least 12 communities will be made more aware of the importance of encouraging juvenile former offenders to participate freely in their social activities and helping them in their quest to earn a decent living. Throughout the period of the program, it is hoped that at least 5,000 junior and senior secondary school students will also receive the necessary information on the deadly disease that is AIDS and guidance in terms of their sexual relations.
