Executive Director, Surfrider Europe Foundation

Following TSF, Stéphane joined Surfrider Foundation Europe in 2003. Now 36 years old, Stéphane has been with Surfrider Foundation Europe for the last five years as the CEO of the organisation.

Stéphane Latxague spent his earlier years sharing his time between various jobs, and his passion for extreme sports and travelling.

Stéphane travelled to various countries including Poland, French Caribbean, Spain, England, and Russia. He studied economics in France and American/English civilisation. He also spent a year in Australia where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Literature. During which time, he was a keen surfer, snowboarder, rock climbing competitor, and free fall parachutist.

Interested in social work, Stéphane also organised and participated in treks in the French Pyrenees for disabled people.

Professionally, Stéphane held various positions inside the surf, mountain industry including Marketing Assistant, communication logistics Coordinator, Assistant PR Manager. Interested in art and design, he also worked as Freelance Artistic agent in Paris.

Highly interested in new technologies and communications, he heard about the humanitarian worlk of Télécoms Sans Frontiéres during the Kosovo war. Immediately Stéphane realised that this NGO could be the link between his taste for action and travels, his interest in communications, and his will to help people. He started working for TSF in 2000 doing emergency missions after floodings in Thailand and Val D’Aosta. He eventually became Head of Emergency Operations (missions in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Angola, Salvador to name a few ) and Development Manager (Opening of offices in France, Thailand and Nicaragua and major partnerships with the United Nations and the IT Industry). Stéphane stayed with TSF for almost 5 years.

Following TSF, Stéphane joined Surfrider Foundation Europe in 2003. Now 36 years old, Stéphane has been with Surfrider Foundation Europe for the last five years as the CEO of the organisation.

Stéphane additionally visits various business schools and universities where he gives lectures on the Social and Environmental Corporate Responsibility of Companies, and Human Resource Management. He also participates sometimes in the United Nations environmental program on Sport and environment and is a permanent guest of the Entrepreneur’s Association for progress in Management.
